 SCW's 4th grade boy's placed first in the Nordby Center Tourney on Saturday against Springs, JVC, Wolsey/Wessington.

  • There will only be one JH girls game tonight.
Also, Parents and fans that want to attend the JVC JH games tonight will need a pass to get in per JVC covid rules. Coach Baruth sent home passes last Wednesday with the girls to give to parents, grandparents or others that want to go. We are only allowed 6 per family.

Counseling Corner

East River Electric Power Cooperative is holding "Bright Futures," a virtual career event highlighting rural-based careers, exploring industries like finance, precision ag, agricultural trades and marketing on February 24. Please contact Mrs. Foxley if you would like sign up! 
 
There will be a representative from the Army National Guard available at 11:00 on Thursday, February 25 in the Commons.

March 17 there will be a virtual Scrubs Camp. Scrubs Camps are one day, hands-on opportunities for high school students and are designed to increase awareness, interest, and understanding of health careers available in South Dakota through creative and interactive activities. Please see Mrs. Foxley if you are interested in registering for this opportunity.

Boys State applications are open to all juniors and seniors for the 2021 session! Boys State will be held May 31-June 4 on Northern State University's campus. Applications are due May 1. Please see Mrs. Foxley with questions about how to apply.

Girls State applications are open! The event will be held on May 31-June 5 on University of South Dakota. Applications are due March 15. Please see Mrs. Foxley with questions about how to apply.

Students interested in learning about healthcare jobs in SD can attend the Virtual Scrubs Camp on Wednesday, March 17th, 2021. Students will have the option of attending either a half-day in the morning or afternoon or for full day. Please see Mrs. Foxley if you are interested in attending!

The Build Dakota Scholarship is now open. Seniors attending a technical school, please contact Mrs. Foxley to see if your program is eligible for the full-ride scholarship! 
                                                                                                                                                                   

Music

 
Thank you to anyone who supported band students by purchasing popcorn, pretzels and/or coffee! We look forward to being able to celebrate our commitment to band with a trip our senior year.

In lieu of pep band performances this basketball season, a Pops and Pep Band concert will be held on Monday, March 8th in the Sanborn Central gym at 7pm. All Woonsocket and Sanborn Central 5-12 band students will be performing. This is a graded performance, so please put this date in your calendar. Family, friends, and community members are welcome and encouraged to attend! 

                                                                                                                                                                    

Library

The 40+ point AR party will be Wednesday, March 17.  This will be rolls, juice, milk with Dr. Weber at 8:30 AM in the commons.  We look forward to having as many 5-12 students as possible reach this goal!!!

Community

Woonsocket Wi-Fi

The Woonsocket Community and Events Center has expanded its central role in connecting community residents and visitors. Santel Communications recently installed a Public Wi-Fi system that provides free Wi-Fi.

According to Woonsocket Schools Superintendent, Dr. Rod Weber, “The school’s remote and eLearning platforms require the student’s reliable access to the Internet. It is important for the school to work with families and community to provide connectivity they need to continue learning through varied pandemic conditions and restrictions. Santel approached the school on ways to help and within a short amount of time, free public Wi-Fi was implemented.”

The community center now has Wi-Fi coverage inside and outside the building. The students and public are invited to use and access Internet for their needs. General Manager Ryan Thompson of Santel states, “Our enhanced Wi-Fi systems allow expanded coverage in an area commonly used by the community for many different events and gatherings. If more stringent social distancing is required, we felt it was important to offer students and residents outdoor ‘drive up’ Internet as well. Drive up, park, connect. Easy, safe and convenient.”

Internet-connected device users should select the community center Wi-Fi access point on their device and with no password required the system allows up to a 2-hour session of free Wi-Fi internet.
