NWPS will be replacing electrical transformers around town on November 14 and 15. The electrical outage for the school's part of town is currently scheduled  from 1:45 to 4:00PM on Wednesday, Nov. 15. Because of this, the school will early dismiss at 1:30PM that day


JH girls basketball practice will start on Monday, November 27th (after Thanksgiving break).

Devoted Students
Mrs. Rodriguez and I are excited to announce we are starting another year of Devoted Students. This year we are extending the invite to all 7th -12th grade students. We have two dates planned before Christmas break, Monday, November 27th @ 6:30 (to accommodate the first week of basketball practice) and Monday, December 11th @ 6:00. We will meet in Mrs. Rodriguez’s room with supper and a study provided. Please RSVP to this link so we can plan an appropriate amount of food. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you there! 🙂

MVPCS Titan Youth Wrestling
     Who:  Boys and Girls in Pre-K thru 6th grade from MVP and the surrounding communities. Also, more weight classes for girls have been made. 
     What:  Youth Wrestling Practice
     When:  Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning November 30th @ 5:45 for all wrestlers. There will also be a parent meeting on this day starting at 5:45. Practice times will be 5:45-7:00.
     Where:  Practice is held at the Ag Building at the fairgrounds in Plankinton.
     Please detach and send the registration form to the first practice with your child.



Art Club

Pre-Eligibility will be printed Wednesday and Eligibility will be printed on Friday, both at 10:45AM each week.


Substitute Teachers
The Woonsocket School District is looking for individuals who are interested in being substitute teachers in the elementary and/or high school.  Individuals who are interested need, at minimum, a high school diploma.  Substitute Teacher Pay: Non-certified - $100.00/day, Certified - $120.00/day, Long term (after 5 consecutive days) $130.00/dayPlease contact the school at 796-4431.

Free, online tutoring available for K-12 students
South Dakota students and families can access a new, online tutoring program, staffed by college students who are preparing to become teachers. The Dakota Dreams Online Tutoring Program offers FREE online tutoring to K-12 students across the state. One-on-one tutoring sessions can help students with their homework, tackle specific trouble areas, and address broader educational concepts.


Band & Chorus Updates
The following students will be attending the JH festival in Platte on Tuesday, November 14th: Millie, Allison, Skylar, Cheyenn, Shiloh, Kaylee, Dayton, Rylan, Nelson, Tyson, Tanse, Paige, Haylee, and Mathias. The bus will leave Sanborn Central at 6:25 am. The bus will leave Woonsocket at 6:40 am.  Return time is approximately 5:00 pm. Students please bring music folders, pencils, water bottles, and extra money in case we stop.  If you are planning on riding home with a parent, they will need to tell Mrs. Easton or Mrs. Karlen.

Community Corner

Community Choir Christmas Concert, "My Christmas Prayer" will be held Sunday, November 19th at 5:00pm in the Woonsocket Community Center with a potluck meal to follow. There is no charge for the concert but everyone is urged to bring non-perishable items for the Sanborn County Food Pantry.


Prairie View Healthcare has openings in their CNA (certified nursing assistant) classes in October and November.  If you are interested in employment at Prairie View or becoming a CNA, please reach out to Kayla (kayla.evans@empres.com) or click here to fill out an application.

Spirit of Faith Wednesday Night Live starts Wed, October 4th, 5:30-6:45 PM. Open to all students PreK4 – 6th grade.
