Student Presentation 7th-12th Grade (**6th grade is not attending**) National Alliance on Mental Illness - Ending the Silence Presentation
On Tuesday, December 3rd at 10:00 AM, Danielle Leeds from the National Alliance on Mental Illness will be coming to our school to speak with 7th-12th grade students regarding mental illnesses, focusing on suicide prevention. NAMI Ending the Silence is a presentation designed to give audience members an opportunity to learn about Mental Illness through an informative PowerPoint and short videos. This presentation outlines symptoms of mental health conditions and gives attendees ideas about how to help themselves, friends, or family members who may need support. Handouts and resources will also be provided at this event.
National Alliance on Mental Illness - Parent/Guardian Informational Presentation
All Sanborn Central and Woonsocket school district PreK-12th grade parents and guardians are invited to attend the National Alliance on Mental Illness parent/guardian informational presentation. This program will be held on the evening of Tuesday, December 3rd at 6:30 pm in the Sanborn Central school gymnasium. Similarly to the student session, this 50-minute presentation is designed to inform audience members about mental health conditions, more specifically, the warning signs and symptoms to look for. This presentation will include essential information regarding how to help oneself, one's child, friends, or family members who may need mental health support. The goal of this program is to educate oneself about mental health disorders, what signs to look for, how to support a loved one with a mental health disorder, and where/how to seek treatment.
Although this is a difficult topic, it is one highly important topic that needs to be addressed and discussed in an effort to reduce the negative stigma around mental health. Please contact me if you have any questions. Supt. Rod Weber
