The team battled well on the road vs Rapid City Christian on Saturday. We were forced to make some adjustments on both sides of the ball, and the players responded well.  Now, we move onto the regular season finale vs a 6-1 Mt. Vernon/Plankinton team. The game will have a large impact on seeding for the playoffs. A win will get us a home playoff game or possibly two.

The JH season will end after the game Monday. Please get all apparel washed and ready to return to the coaches at your school. Talk to the coaches at your school for a time that works for them to hand in equipment.

Schedule for the week:

Tuesday: HS practice in Woony 4:00-6:15 in full pads

Wednesday: HS practice in Woony 4:00-6:00 in full pads

Thursday: HS practice in Woony 4:00-5:45 in half pads

Friday: Varsity game vs MVP in Mt. Vernon @ 7PM. Springs bus will leave at 4:25 and pickup SC & Woony players in Woony at 4:45.

Thanks, Coach Olsen.

There will be a representative from SDSU available to meet with juniors and seniors Wednesday, November 3rd from 11:00 AM.

Next week begins College Application Campaign (formally known as Free College Application Week). It is now a 6-week campaign where seniors can apply to SD colleges for free, and it will run October 18-November 30. In the past, I have made signs for doors for staff. If yours from previous years got thrown away or you lost yours, please reply that you need a new one. If you are new to Woonsocket this year, please respond with what school(s) you went to and what degree(s) you received! If you never got one, please let me know that too!!!

Also, I'd like to kick of College Application Campaign by wearing college gear on Tuesday, October 19. Please wear something that represents any college or technical school - especially those in SD! 🙂

Make sure you ask seniors where they are applying to or what they are doing after graduation! I hope this next week will spark some excitement for them and whatever future plans they have. Thanks so much!

_Seniors - Free College Application Campaign (formally known as Free College Application Week) begins next Monday, October 18 and runs through November 30. COMMUNITY

CommunityWoonsocket Wi-Fi

The Woonsocket Community and Events Center has expanded its central role in connecting community residents and visitors. Santel Communications recently installed a Public Wi-Fi system that provides free Wi-Fi.

According to Woonsocket Schools Superintendent, Dr. Rod Weber, “The school’s remote and eLearning platforms require the student’s reliable access to the Internet. It is important for the school to work with families and community to provide connectivity they need to continue learning through varied pandemic conditions and restrictions. Santel approached the school on ways to help and within a short amount of time, free public Wi-Fi was implemented.”

The community center now has Wi-Fi coverage inside and outside the building. The students and public are invited to use and access Internet for their needs. General Manager Ryan Thompson of Santel states, “Our enhanced Wi-Fi systems allow expanded coverage in an area commonly used by the community for many different events and gatherings. If more stringent social distancing is required, we felt it was important to offer students and residents outdoor ‘drive up’ Internet as well. Drive up, park, connect. Easy, safe and convenient.”

Internet-connected device users should select the community center Wi-Fi access point on their device and with no password required the system allows up to a 2-hour session of free Wi-Fi internet.
