Dig Pink Night will be held October 24th at the volleyball game versus Mt. Vernon/Plankinton in Sanborn Central. T-shirt order forms can be found on the website or pick up a hard copy from the school. Orders need to be paid for and turned to Sarah Jensen by October 12th. Checks payable to Creative Web.
The schools will also put together some baskets for a silent auction on Dig Pink Night. We ask each student to donate $1.00. Their donations can be given to their teacher or Sarah Jensen by October 20th. We will put together 5 baskets with your donations (PK - 2, 3 -5, 6-8, HS and faculty).
Student Council members will be collecting $5 this week from 7th-12th grade students; which will allow hats to be worn in school on Thursday and Friday, October 19th & 20th. The money collected will be given to the Dig Pink VB game fundraiser.

Health Screenings
The Community Health Nurse will be performing screenings on the following grades: K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, & 10. Attached is a declination form if you do not want your child to be screened.
Halloween Festival 🎃👻
Saturday, October 28th from 4-6 the Sanborn Central FFA will be hosting a Halloween Festival at the SC gym. Cost is $5 per family. More information here.

Substitute Teachers
The Woonsocket School District is looking for individuals who are interested in being substitute teachers in the elementary and/or high school. Individuals who are interested need, at minimum, a high school diploma. Substitute Teacher Pay: Non-certified - $100.00/day, Certified - $120.00/day, Long term (after 5 consecutive days) $130.00/day. South Dakota students and families can access a new, online tutoring program, staffed by college students who are preparing to become teachers. The Dakota Dreams Online Tutoring Program offers FREE online tutoring to K-12 students across the state. One-on-one tutoring sessions can help students with their homework, tackle specific trouble areas, and address broader educational concepts.

Community Corner
On Sunday, October 15th we have a number of things scheduled for Shooting Sports at the 4-H Building including registration, safety training and awards night. Cost is $15 per 4-H member. For shooting sports, youth must turn age 8 by 1/1/24.

- Shooting Sports practices will begin on Sunday, January 7th.
- If you are interested in being a certified coach for Shooting Sports, even to just be a better parent coach, there will be a coaches training in Wessington Springs on January 13 and there are a couple others scheduled farther away. Let me know if you are interested.
Schedule for October 15th:
- Sign-up/Registration – 5:30-6:30
- Light meal available – 5:30-6:30
- Safety training and information – 6:15-7:00 – if you can’t make this one, we will be scheduling another. Safety test will be available for 4-H members to take if they are ready. You can complete this at a later time.
- Awards night for the 2023 season – 7:00-8:00. We will be taking a group picture so wear your shooting sports shirt if you have one.
Prairie View Healthcare has openings in their CNA (certified nursing assistant) classes in October and November. If you are interested in employment at Prairie View or becoming a CNA, please reach out to Kayla (kayla.evans@empres.com) or click here to fill out an application.

Letcher Community Center Supper & Pheasant Opener Breakfast
A few of our area students from Sanborn/Jerauld County are attending National 4-H congress in Atlanta, Georgia in November. Come help them support their trip on October 21st at the Letcher Community Center from 5:30-8:30 with a free will donation supper. Fun filled night with silent and live auction items. Free popcorn and fun!
A community Pheasant Opener Breakfast will also be served Sunday morning, October 22nd from 8:30-12:30 at Letcher Community Center. Bring your hunters!
